The association ACTION DOLPO develops educational projects in Dolpo a remote region of the Himalayas

The adventure begins in 1992 when an adherent of the French Alpine Club, Marie-Claire Gentric has discovered during a trek Dolpo, the former Tibetan kingdom of northwest Nepal.

Love at first sight for these valleys and especially for its residents, an immense generosity despite their poverty. Upon his return to France, Marie-Claire offers to sponsor the Tarap Valley by the French Alpine Club she runs a project development assistance and very quickly many other members of the Alpine Club comes to help Marie Claire.

The purpose of the association is to help the people of Dolpo in providing resources to youth in these remote areas to study and preserve its rich culture of Tibetan origin. Priority is given to formal schooling as a means of access to sanitation, health, protection of the environment, thinking about its own culture, etc ...

One school, Crystal Mountain School, opened its doors in 1993. The enthusiasm of parents and children is such that it requires the association to accelerate the enrollment of students and recruitment of teachers.Crystal Mountain School serves approximately 130 students and 2005 has been realized an important step in the evolution of the school: the construction of a bioclimatic building to house the school. 2009 achieve a project that built a dispensary close to the school.

CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN SCHOOL

Created in May 1994 to Dho, the main village of Tarap, was originally an elementary school. It now offers a nursery and also acueille 140 students. Some children Lang Valley more distant, there are also enrolled in school. And a second nursery welcomes children from their village Tokkyu.

In addition to courses common to all schools in Nepal, including the Nepali and English, children are also Tibetan classes, dancing, painting and traditional songs.

A new larger building opened its doors during the summer of 2006. It allows both a more comfortable teaching and hosting some teachers or students living far away. Bioclimatic design and offers a free heating and a greenhouse. Kids eat vegetables so much of the year!
